Spring Black Bear Hunts
Spring black bear hunts take place in western Wyoming as bears emerge from winter dens and begin actively feeding. These hunts are primarily conducted over legally registered bait sites that are carefully maintained and strategically placed based on wind, visibility, and consistent bear movement. While we generally leverage bait sites for spring bear, we also utilize spot and stalk methods and can use either strategy more heavily based on hunter preference.
What to expect:
- Afternoon and evening sits over bait
- Frequent daylight bear activity
- Opportunities for mature boars and color-phase bears
- A patient, deliberate hunting style with close guide involvement
Each hunter is paired with a dedicated guide who manages bait sites, monitors trail cameras, and adjusts daily plans based on bear behavior and conditions.
Fall Black Bear Hunts (Spot & Stalk)
Fall black bear hunts are conducted using spot-and-stalk methods as bears actively feed in preparation for winter. These hunts are dynamic and mobile, relying on glassing, terrain, and timing rather than bait.
What to expect:
- Long days glassing from ridges and vantage points
- Active horseback riding in variable terrain
- Bears feeding on natural food sources
Opportunities to combine bear hunting with other fall big game seasons. Fall hunts are ideal for hunters who enjoy covering ground, glassing, and adapting to changing conditions.
Hunting Style & Guide Ratio
All black bear hunts—spring and fall—are conducted 1-on-1 with a professional guide unless otherwise arranged.

Limited 2-on-1 options may be available for pairs who request it, but 1-on-1 guiding is our standard and recommended experience.
Lodging & Meals
Our spring black bear hunts are town-based to provide flexibility and keep the focus on hunting.
Our fall hunts are based out of our well-equipped, traditional wall tent camp in the backcountry offering hunters the same unique and classic wilderness experience our big game hunters enjoy.
