Our hunts take place in Northwest Wyoming within the Bridger-Teton National Forest and the Gros Ventre Wilderness Area. These remote backcountry areas provide exceptional habitat for big and trophy game alike, making them ideal for true wilderness hunting experiences with Mountain Ivory Adventures.

4. What experience level is required for a guided hunt?
Hunters of all experience levels are welcome — from first-time big game hunters to seasoned outdoorsmen and women.. Our professional guides tailor each hunt to your physical ability, experience, and goals. We get a lot of questions about the necessity for prior horseback riding experience, and it is not required. While we have hunters who spend a lot of time on horses throughout the year, most of our hunters spend little to no time on a horse outside of their hunt. We offer fully guided archery and rifle Wyoming elk hunts in a vast country that includes everything from rugged, high-country terrain to lush, open meadows, and everything in-between. 6. Do you offer guided mule deer hunts?
Yes, Mountain Ivory Adventures provides guided Wyoming mule deer hunts in prime habitat throughout the Gros Ventre Range. These hunts are ideal for hunters seeking trophy-class bucks in remote country. We also have hunters who choose to do a combo-hunt for both elk and mule deer. 7. Are guided bear hunts available?
We offer professionally guided Wyoming black bear hunts in both the spring and fall. Spring hunts allow hunters to stay in comfortable cabins near our units and the hunting tends to favor bait style hunts, though we also utilize spot-and-stalk. 8. What is included in a Mountain Ivory Adventures hunting package?
Allhunting packages include professional guide services, wilderness camp accommodations (with the exception of spring black bear), meals, and access to remote hunting areas. Specific inclusions vary by species and season, which you can review on our seasons and applications page.
9. Do you provide lodging and meals during the hunt?
Yes, with the exception of spring black bear, hunters stay in a traditional backcountry camp that includes comfortable accommodations and hearty, home-cooked meals. This authentic camp experience is a core part of hunting with Mountain Ivory Adventures.
10. Are horses used during guided hunts?
Yes, horses and pack animals are commonly used to access remote terrain and transport harvested animals. Horseback travel allows us to reach areas untouched by road access and enhances the wilderness experience offered by Mountain Ivory Adventures. One of the components that makes our camp so unique is that we have an exclusive permit allowing us to reach camp by side-by-side. This allows us to offer more amenities than are typically found in a backcountry camp and to transport hunters and gear via side-by-side. Once in camp, hunting is primarily conducted from horseback, with limited hiking.
11. How do I apply for Wyoming preference points and tags?
Hunters must apply for Wyoming big game (this excludes some trophy animals like black bear and wolf) licenses and tags through the state draw system. 18. When is the best time to hunt elk, mule deer, or bear in Wyoming?
The best time varies by species and unit, Black bear hunts are conducted (in accordance with seasons dates) in May and June.
